Ways of living
In Darfur, the population
provides themselves with food by farming and herding. (Buchanan- Smith, M.,
& Jaspars, S., 2007, p. 61) In fact, it his part of their culture to
transmit from one generation to the other the knowledge that is required to
practice either one or both of these essential activities. They have been providing
their own food for a very long time and been able to sustain. They also use
trading of goods to get what they need and it is a great way to maintain
societal bound. (Buchanan- Smith, M., & Jaspars, S., 2007, p. 61) In a
society like these ones each member has a role and knows what to do and what is
expended of him. In fact, through their lifestyle it is possible to deduct that
they are a patriarchal society. (Ondiak, N., & Ismail, O., 2009, p. 27) Therefor
the oldest male in the family must provide support and must make decisions in
order to maintain stability.
